The 21st century, which is considered the age of information and multimedia, accelerated the development of the press in the university and turned it into an operational and dynamic field. In 2000, the university's public relations were established with the establishment of the press service at the university, and the organization of the press department on the basis of the press service in 2009 further expanded and improved the activities in this field.
Starting staff training in the field of Journalism in 2001, and the organization of the Chair of Journalism and World Literature in 2002 determined the systematic and organized work in this field.
Media and public relations department plays a coordinating role between the university and mass media. The activities of the chair are based on the activities of the chair, which are the innovations in the field of science and education at Nakhchivan State University, scientific, cultural and public events, construction works, participation of university employees in international conferences and symposia, speeches in foreign media, new publications, culture and sports events.
The media and public relations department meets the demand of press agencies for scientific and educational information, actively participates in conveying the pace of development of national science and education to a wide audience. The department is also one of the reliable bases for gaining professional experience for bachelors and masters studying journalism.
